But Darcy doesn’t change his attitude overnight, we go several months without seeing him and IMO it’s not because of love for a woman it’s because in essence he’s an honorable person who wants to be the best person he can be.

But neither of them is represented as having changed. Elinor feels some sympathy for Willoughby in spite of her own better judgment. People don’t forgive Frank because he’s improved. They forgive him, IMO, because they like him and Emma hasn’t been hurt. Frank is thoughtless but to me he's not as bad as Willoughby. He has convinced himself of what he wants to believe regarding Emma and he I think gets carried away with covering the secret when he should be working toward his goal.

What makes you think she stops reading horror stories the minute she becomes a wife? She has already learned not to let her imagination get carried away. I would think she would continue to read horror stories but they would gradually become less important to her as she has other things to occupy her attention and responsibilities.
