I really enjoyed your story. Like you, MP is not my favorite JA novel, and I can remember reading it for the first time and thinking Fanny was a pretty boring heroine. Now that I'm older and have hung out "figuratively" around other JA lovers, I've learned to appreciate the book but, even so, it's not a fav. Having said that, I really love your re-imagining of "Fanny"/Frankie. It just tickled my fancy that you kept her public persona so true to canon, while giving her the alter ego of demon hunter on the side. The tie over was great.
I liked the ending. I thought it was great that she was finally able to go home, although I felt bad when her father spoke of her not demon hunting again. But then I thought it was great when she started training again. Maybe she won't be killing 10 demons at a time, but she hasn't lost it all, she can carry on.
I was also glad that you didn't pair her with Edmund. I just wasn't feeling it. Having said that, I could totally see Frankie living HEA with Henry, and I think I'd like to imagine it that way. When Henry said "I am simply not fit for regular company any longer," it made me chuckle and think that he is fit for Frankie though. I can just imagine him telling bed time stories to their children of their mother's amazing demon hunting exploits. I think he'd adore her and be very proud to have her teach all their children to be demon hunters. And that's how I'd like to imagine Frankie in the future - being courted by Crawford, marrying him when the time was right, then having kiddos she can love and teach all her skills.
Thanks a bunch for this fun story!
Love,
Lisa
