I'm not sure I understand your latest post. Are you saying that because Frederick is now a rich suitor to Anne whose family has lost their fortune, thus Frederick is now doing a favor in marrying Anne (contrary to the beginning when she was the one who took a step down in getting engaged to him) Frederick is wrong to berate himself
for keeping away needlessly from his beloved for the last six years, and even after his return almost entangling himself with another girl beacuse he nurtured his resentment for 8 years?I'm not sure what you imply that JA thought when she put them through 7 years of unhappiness... it seems you are saying that JA must also have thought F was not at guilt or would not have put them through 7 years? or that the change in their fortunes was worth the 7 years? And what about romance and omitting the crown of thorns in favor of tiaras(I understand the figure of speech but not its relevance to the subject)? You lost me, I am afraid.
