it's the country roads, which are just, and only just, wide enough for one car in each direction where the drivers all seem to play chicken. Stick to main roads and you should be ok. My brother lives in Kent and I shut my eyes if he's driving. at least the roads are good, unlike Hertfordshire which has roads that look like they haven't been fixed since the high perch phaeton was invented... you can see the county boundary from Essex where the road suddenly becomes potholed...
