Wow! That was very interesting. Thank you!by Sharon Elaine - Tea Room
I read a story somewhere, I can't find it now to reference, where the Monarch had given a Duke a subsidiary title to pass on to his eldest daughter, who had been a favorite of the King or Queen I can't remember. This was supposed to enable her to have her on income, not be subject to a man, etc. I can't think of a real life instance like this though.by Sharon Elaine - Tea Room
I thought it was called "Mrs.Bennet" but nothing came up in the search results in the Epilogue Abbey. I remember it, she starts out in modern times and has a car accident and wakes up as Mrs. Bennet.by Sharon Elaine - Tea Room
Thank you all for your help! My main question is- would, in 1900, second cousins or first cousins once removed, have married? It seemed to be the consensus that it would have been fairly common. Thanks again!by Sharon Elaine - Tea Room
Hi All! I know obviously that during Regency times first cousins would marry. By the early 1900s they wouldn't have. But in the early 1900s would second cousins or first cousins once removed(not sure of the proper term) marry? Specifically- would two people whose parents were first cousins marry? Thanks!by Sharon Elaine - Tea Room
I was wondering if any of you can tell me when wealthy women stopped having dowries? About what year? I was thinking about the Crawley sisters on Downton Abbey, I couldn't remember anyone on the show mentioning dowries for them. If they didn't have dowries in the true sense, would they just come into a certain amount of money at a certain age? How would it have worked? Thanks in advance!by Sharon Elaine - Tea Room
In the Gweneth Paltrow Emma movie, they have a marquee/ tent like thing where Emma and Harriet sit and draw, etc. It has a raised center, very pretty. Don't know if it legit but the rest of the movie is pretty period accurate.by Sharon Elaine - Tea Room
I haven't been too impressed with this stories Edmund. Him and Edward Ferrars...too whimpy. I was actually rooting for Henry for awhile with this story. Now I don't know what to think! This was always my least fav Austen tome, this story makes me like it better!by Sharon Elaine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I spelled it wrong Lord Ashbourne. Even better!by Sharon Elaine - Tea Room
This might have been asked before... but in some fanfics, there are new characters created that add to or alter the story. Who are your favorites? What stories are they in so we can read them too! FYI- Mine is Lord Ashborne in many of Shemmelle's stories, starting with "Introducing Puck", I beleive. He is a dashing mix of Darcy and the Colonel. Plus, he is the Viscount! Need more Ash Shem!by Sharon Elaine - Tea Room
Reading the names you listed, just several of many, many talented writers to bless us with their talents! It is wonderful that this site has allowed so many to forge new careers, or pursue a passion that they had no forum for before the DWG existed!by Sharon Elaine - Tea Room
So help clear my befuddled brain please! This was the end for how long? When will you start posting the next part? Very nice ending to this post! It was a good place to stop, ODC is in a good place, but there is still lots still unresolved. What did Wickham mean, what will he do to Darcy? Will Caroline stir up trouble? Will Lizzy make it to Pemeberley okay? Does Richard really believe Lizzy is iby Sharon Elaine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Lovely chapters Ginger! Thanks for the extra long read today! So glad ODC is coming to terms with their feelings for each other. Now let's figure out who the spy is! I wonder at three things: Sapper, the windmill and the other Elizabeth B., actually four things- the missing medal! Post again soon!by Sharon Elaine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
