Hello everyone! I'd like to reread a story (or were they more than one?) posted here in 2013, around the time the first royal baby was born (George, I mean). I remember the story made fun of all the media attention the upcoming birth was getting, with journalists camped outside the hospital where the then-Duchess was said to go. In short, each reporter was a character from an Austen novel and theby Lily - Tea Room
I finally read it and no, unfortunately, it's not the one I was looking for. Still, thank you for sharing the link, because it was a great readby Lily - Tea Room
Hi Denise! The JAFF Index reports the story was last updated in 2010, so now it shows as likely abandoned. The author, Kim B, doesn't seem to have been posting anywhere but here, and "Seen and Unseen" is listed as her only story. Does anyone know more? I remember that story, as well as my disappointment as months, then years, went by without any updatesby Lily - Tea Room
I'll have to read it to make sure, though. Does it have Elizabeth becoming a governess or something similar? This might be the change in circumstances that I remember. Well, even if it ends up not being the story I was looking for, thank you for bringing it to my attention! It does look worth readingby Lily - Tea Room
Hello everyone! I'm looking for a Regency story where Elizabeth becomes a proficient pianist. This happens because of altered circumstances, but I don't remember of which kind exactly, whether negative or positive. Mostly, it was because she had more time to practice (something she admitted herself) So, as I remember: - First meetings happen as canon - I think Hunsford and the elopement happen,by Lily - Tea Room
Is that not against forum rules? I thought mentioning other JAFF webisites was not allowed here, because of the general rating content.... It's why I didn't name namesby Lily - Tea Room
Yes, there's a typo in the title of the archived version here, so it shows as "Great Misfortune", singular instead of plural. I searched it by author - Paula - and found it, but it's strangely incomplete. Paula did finish it, I saved it a long time ago. Just google Great Misfortunes by Paula, though. It's literally the first resultby Lily - Tea Room
It's Great Misfortunes by Paula! Alida, thank you! You remembered right, Mr Collins interrupts with news of Mr Bennet's death. I was able to cross-reference results from the JAFF Index and found this story. It's been a pleasure to reread!by Lily - Tea Room
I love Meg's story and it definitely inspired the title of my topic, but it's not the one I'm looking for. Thank you anyway for suggesting it! I've recently reread it and its humourous take on the Hunsford proposal is unparalleled. Unfortunately, the story I'm trying to find is a bit more angsty, as far as I remember. Let's hope someone else remembers it!by Lily - Tea Room
Hello! I'm looking for a story where Elizabeth and Darcy are interrupted during the Hunsford proposal, so that Elizabeth never gets to refuse and Darcy assumes her acceptance. I don't remember exactly how they are interrupted, but the end result is that they get engaged. It might have been Mr Collins interrupting them, and crying scandal because they were alone together? And Darcy jumping in toby Lily - Tea Room
Hi Sarah! I've just checked, and somehow (?) the links for her stories in the JAFF Index still work. Go look!by Lily - Tea Room
About the number ranking, I meant both. It definitely sounds too modern to be used in the Regency era but it's also an expression I've only seen current teenagers use. Like I said, I was a teenager myself not that long ago, but this ranking system was not at all popular when I was in high school (among my peers or in media). Basically, it sounded to me like the writers wanted to adopt the most recby Lily - Tea Room
Trigger warning for addiction to alcohol. Anne is very obviously an alcoholic. Always drinking during meals, hiding wine and drinking it alone in her room, is visibly hung-over in the morning. Just bewareby Lily - Tea Room
Spoilers for Persuasion (2020). You've been warned. I said I would watch it, so I did. It was an ExperienceTM that ranged from cringy to awkward to hilarious to just screaming "NO WAY!" at my tv. Well, on the bright side, I can ridicule the whole film to my heart's content now! So, first thing: it was hinted at in the trailer, but it was overdone in the movie. What was? You might ask. Breakingby Lily - Tea Room
QuoteNobuko wrote: do they rewrite a classic to what will sell or appeal to the unknowing masses? That's exactly what bothers me about recent adaptations. We've had "Pride, Prejudice and Zombies" and "Death Comes to Permberley", but no new P&P movie/tv series after 2005. Same with other JA novels except for Emma. Then came the Bridgertons and I think that is now the new standard: write a modeby Lily - Tea Room
I have just watched the trailer for the new Netflix adaptation of Persuasion and I'm so disappointed! Persuasion is one of my favourite novels, a book I have read countless times, so I was incredibly excited when a new adaptation was announced. The fact that Anne was to be played by an American actress didn't thrill me but if Gwyneth Paltrow could be a credible Emma, I was prepared to give Dakotaby Lily - Tea Room

Hi Michelle! While I can't answer your questions, I do know that author Sarah Waldock (who used to post her works here in the ANI Board) has extensive knowledge of the Regency era and more. I found an old message here in the Tea Room where she gave her e-mail, though I don't know if it still works https://www.dwiggie.com/phorum/read.php?4,128398,128409#msg-128409 She also has a series of blogs,by Lily - Tea Room
Hi! I'm looking for two modern P&P stories that were posted at another site. I thought I had saved them among my favourites in my account at that website, but either I haven't or the stories were taken down. The problem is that I don't remember the title or the author, and I would love to contact who wrote them asking where they're gone - it's possible either or both have been published, and iby Lily - Tea Room
Great ending, Sarah! Just the right balance of fireworks, action and romance Libby and Jane's conversation makes me wonder if it's Jane the young lady you said was "reluctant" about a pairing with Sir Henry... He might be a gentleman, but has he got any real depth of feeling? Based on what happens here, I'm still not sure. Jane has enough mettle to be a wonderful heroine someday, so I'll trustby Lily - A Novel Idea
Lucius confiding his troubles to Libby is perhaps the most romantic scene you have ever written. There is something so very intimate and freeing in sharing personal thoughts and worries with the person one loves, that it's even more bonding than a mere dalliance. Masterfully done, Sarah.by Lily - A Novel Idea
Trust you to drop a bomb at the very end, Sarah! So Lucius was stabbed but, of course, it had to be said quite nonchalantly, so as not to worry anyone at Swanley, least of all Marc who is even forbidden the knowledge. Well done! Miss Tissot is a welcome new entry, as well as little Jane. I'm even thinking of her father, in terms of a surprise return much like Captain Sanderville's in Ophelia's Opby Lily - A Novel Idea
I'm amazed at the cruelty Barbara's father was capable of. She might be a difficult, spoiled child, but she didn't deserve to be disowned. However, this turn of events might be a blessing in disguise: one more heroine slowly in the making, and one more villain to be brought down! Now let me take a moment to silently savour the new harmony between Lucius and Libby - it was a sweet, poignant scene.by Lily - A Novel Idea
I know it would take a bit of time-travel, but I imagined Julian singing this one and getting a standing ovation for his brilliant genius - yours, of courseby Lily - A Novel Idea
A great ending, Sarah! The resolution of Daisy's abduction was very thorough - then again, with artillery and army officers involved, it was bound to be! And the wedding night! Trust Daisy to be straight-forward to the end Thanks for sharing!by Lily - A Novel Idea
But you shared your contribution to the Romantic poets' competition on Ozymandias! That in itself is a gift to be treasured! Besides, I'll still get the wonderful resolution and the dreamy wedding . How can I complain?by Lily - A Novel Idea
