Re: Ace of Schemes 16-18

When at school we had a stupid class called 'General Studies' and the only two which stuck in my memory were the visiting speakers who spoke about lock picking and card tricks. The card trick chappie was a stage magician who showed us a few techniques about how to remember the cards in order in a whole deck, a trick I used to jog my visual memory of tags to information when revising. I can't do it now, but I got to about half a deck at one point, so yes, it is possible. Of course it helps that I used to have a near-eidetic memory but as Toby remembers every card that has been played, I think we can assume he has a pretty good memory.
I used the lock picking many times to rescue people from their bike locks when they had forgotten the key, and to let a neighbour back into her house when she locked herself out getting the milk. I fear I may have larcenous instincts!
