Unless it was a very unusual title, it passed on to the eldest son, and all of the property which was part of the title went with it. I think there was some technical difference between titles due to letters patent versus those from writs of summons, but I've never understood if that made any difference in the Regency period. But the basic idea was that the title came from the Crown, so the holder of the title could not revoke the rules under which he or she was given the title.
