Thank you for your very generous posting. I'm embarrassed to admit how often I checked for updates over the last few days. You didn't disappoint me -- 12 is terrific!
The section at Matlock House was a brilliant piece of writing. Just brilliant. And so clever, surprising everyone when the maid announced Anne's arrival. I hope Anne's explanation -- that her mother had been keeping her prisoner at Rosings -- and her plea for access to her inheritance -- shocked Lord and Lady Matlock enough for them to realize Lady Catherine belongs in Bedlam [not that Anne needs their support with Darcy on her side, but it certainly wouldn't hurt]. But the very best part was Anne's understated but enormously satisfying exit from Matlock house. I delighted in imagining Lady Catherine's reaction when she realizes that Anne did not return after paying the driver.
