As usual, another excellent chapter! After having witnessed Mrs, Churchill in action as she grew up, it makes sense that Emma would unconsciously soften her own domineering personality (soften, but not entirely subdue as we see in this chapter). I do see Mrs. Churchill as another hypothetical variation of Emma from the novel (older, without the wisdom, love, and guidance of Mr. Knightley to help shape her character). Although, I cannot see Emma depriving someone of his home and livelihood out of spite, of course.

I did tear up when Emma did. Even though your variation features Frank as her childhood companion, I thought you showcases Emma's isolation/loneliness well and in keeping with the novel.
