have read book 1, have an inkling about why she would conclude she is guilty. Those, like you, who are unfamiliar with book 1 are clueless.
Let's park the question for now. When you encounter the section where E ticks off her guilt in her mind in ch 13, let's revisit this question. Then you can tell me if NOT knowing heightens the suspense or merely leaves you frustratingly clueless, in which case I should add at LEAST a few hints in this beginning part of the book.
