Sigh.... one certainly doesn't need it spelled out to know "how he made good on his intentions." Well written indeed!

However, I am having a wee bit of a hard time believing that Darcy, a man of the world (so to speak), well known to society, a man sought after for his wealth and status, would not understand that spending too much time with a lady whether she be secretly engaged to his good friend or not, would give rise to speculation...(Elizabeth was certainly right in saying so!)... I mean, I know he isn't canon Darcy, and whether this scene took place or not before your story took a different route, he
did say to Caroline Bingley: "...A lady's imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony, in a moment.I knew you would be wishing me joy." Darcy may be a fool, but he wasn't stupid. At least, I'd like to believe he wasn't.
AND if these rumors reached Elizabeth, did they not reach Miss Cornish? Could she not speak up, and try to dispel such rumors?
Ah, but this is just a story. And I did enjoy it. Thank you, Suzanne O.!
