It's a good thing they made up so quickly. I suspect this escapade, and particularly their appearance when rescued--him without his coat, her without shoes or stockings, both disheveled after being alone on a deserted island for some time, potentially after dark--means they will have been compromised. Not that they would mind a short engagement, of course, but it's sad to think they might be exposed to rumor and scandal.
