So to clarify--did she get all the souls she bargained for? They're all safe?

I admit I was hoping for a happier ending than this, but I can live with it because of the return to Mansfield Park, and the irony you built into that. This was never a light-hearted story, after all. I do feel sad--and it does seem like the supreme higher power on the side of good (which I hesitate to call God in a story like this) should have just overruled it all because of the sacrificial nature of what she did. But it's your world. Why do I feel like Henry is going to be even more miserable and tortured now? The guy just can't catch a break, can he? Now he's set free, but he knows it was at the cost of her soul, and he's never going to be happy again, thinking about that.

Don't get me wrong. It's gripping--but painful. Great story for All Hallows Eve.
