Bingley's firm friendship with Darcy tends to protect Caroline from getting her comeuppance. I'm not a vindictive person, but I'd love to see her make a complete fool of herself. Alas, that isn't ever likely because of Bingley. How wonderful if she put a rumour out to Lady C that Lizzie had been heard being rumoured to be associating with a common soldier...and it turned out to be Colonel Fitzwilliam....Gee...(-:
