Personally, I like the point before Lidia and Wickham elope. An interesting situation is developing up Lambton way. Just personally speaking, I always got a feeling that Wickham had left the story and that Lydia was a minor character. It was a clever ploy to use them to bring Darcy and Lizzie together, but at that point there are other possibilities that could be worked on without affecting the overall ending.
