Not sure I can go with that argument Jim. The guy was in love and wanted to marry her and for whatever reason he was turned down. All the discussion and decision took place without his inclusion. All he knew was that she hadn't wanted him and that would be a blow for any man. From then on they had no contact, mainly due to him pursuing a career in a time of war, until seven years later, and although both had retained their initial love of each other I think Frederick was totally blameless and not guilty of either pride or resentment. Just my view.
