However, the example was to illustrate the simple fact that you cannot focus solely on the verbal communication when fact gathering. Holmes should know that better than anybody. Darcy's verbal communication was either zero to strangers or ride to friends. His non verbal was rude. These are the facts and the consequences are natural. Of course he has a good core. A ride behaviour in one night does not make you a rotten individual. Being good in principle though does not make his behaviour on that instance less abhorrent and homes seems to miss this as he is solely focused on words.
