I agree that all of Austen's book have a delightful way of bringing out the smile in serious situations. Yes, even Mansfield Park, which has a poor relative badly treated and whose humility sometimes brings tears of anger and frustration to a reader. Fanny's interior monologues can be quite dramatic, tipping into melodramatic and she is funny without meaning to be.

Maybe we should start another thread to discuss the best instances of humor in the Austen canon?
