Oh, Mr Bennet without a doubt. I have wondered if his making sport for/and of/ his neighbours might just be a trait of Jane Austen herself. I'm sure there must have been a Collins somewhere in her experience because in him she was possibly having a little poke at either a particular person or the church's straight-laced eclesiastical influence on life. J.A, at least in author mode didn't quite seem the inflexible parson's daughter one might imagine, something she may have reserved for Mary Bennet perhaps? In Mr Bennet she would probably have found a worthy opponent for her own wit; in Mr Collins someone to do exactly what Mr Bennet loved to do, be exceedingly diverted by him. (-:
