A story from I think quite a while back has been sticking in my mind, but can't remember exact title. It starts out with Darcy & Elizabeth being friends from an early age as their fathers are best friends. Elizabeth is I think just 15 when Darcy proposes while the Bennets are visiting at Pemberley, but the dads want them to wait of course, so they are separated being at their respective homes. Then Darcy's father is killed in a terrible accident, and Darcy tries to cope wondering why his letters to the Bennets aren't being answered (communication being stopped by Darcy's relatives). Then an awful fire at Pemberley injures Darcy, and he almost dies...
