Re: Caroline bashing mood

Originally I was looking for stories to read, but I have been tossing around the idea of writing one myself.

I like the idea. I could tweak the circumstances and make Darcy an Earl, Duke, or another nobleman who has a slight acquaintance with Bingley through mutual friends/university/whites. He was doing something on the estate, which someone of his standing wouldn't normally do, when he got word his sister needed him so he rushed to London without changing only to serendipitously have some sort of issue in Meryton. Of course he saw Bingley who took him back to Netherfield where a certain lady was nursing her sister through a cold, coincidentally enough. Caroline refuses to allow him entrance to the home so Lizzy sends Mr. B. a note asking him visit Netherfield and invite him to Longbourn. I think I will soften Mrs. B and the younger girls a little.

Hmmm, lots to outline. Thank you for the idea and reason to finally attempt something.

The set down was in the worst way, it was completely her fault. She even interrupted him when he tried to correct her, then he just went with it to find out if Bingley was sincere. Kudos.

The story was my attempt to explain how Caroline and Darcy ended up with such a weird relationship, in which she blatantly pursues him by methods that are obviously insincere and ineffectual, but he remains so patient with her that she never quite gives up hope.

- Alan -
