Away in Northanger

    Away in Northanger

    Away in Northanger
    With no time for rest,
    Beleaguered Miss Morland
    Must pack her chest.
    The Tilneys are leaving
    The very next day,
    And little Miss Morland
    No longer may stay.

    The Tilneys must travel
    To visit a friend:
    A forgotten promise
    They cannot rescind.
    The general announces
    That before the dawn
    The carriage is ordered
    To take Catherine home.

    Miss Tilney is weeping
    To lose her dear guest.
    'Tis a bitter cordial
    That "Father knows best."
    His whims she must weather,
    Come heartache and shame,
    While 'neath his dominion
    And bearing his name.

    With Henry at Woodston,
    He hears not the news
    Of Catherine's departure,
    His father's abuse.
    And when to the abbey
    Our hero returns,
    What horror he hears of,
    What story he learns!

    He love you, Miss Morland.
    Trust him with your heart.
    This forced separation
    Won't keep you apart.
    He'll follow you home
    Like a little lost lamb.
    His happiness rests
In the palm of your hand.

    The End
