Look for updates on Mondays and Wednesdays. Per our Contributor Guidelines, we require that authors wait 3-4 days before posting another chapter of their story. If you post on Monday, the earliest you may post again is Thursday. I missed it earlier, so I am letting this chapter remain. Thank you! :)by Amy I. - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I think you may be talking about the Rule Against Perpetuities (a legal concept that surely must be the bane of existence of every first year law student, as it is notoriously difficult to understand let alone apply). Nevertheless, the knowledgeable JulieW from the Republic of Pemberley has previously tackled this concept and speculated how it might apply in the context of Longbourn. She's alsoby Amy I. - Tea Room
When I search the novel text for "stanhope," I get "No Results Found." But, I searched Gutenberg's online copy of S&S for "stanhope," and also got no hits. Are you sure it's mentioned in the novel? When I searched RoP's novel text for "Stanhill," I got two hits: Chapter 6 & Chapter 33. Although searching Gutenberg's copy, it looks like Stanhill was also mentioned in Chapter 2 and I donby Amy I. - Tea Room

Sorry, no editing feature BUT registered users CAN delete their posts (so long as no one has replied to it yet). Just copy what you had, delete, paste what you saved and edit what you need to edit. It's clunky, but it works and if it's too much work, well, we're no foe of typos around these parts so don't worry. :)by Amy I. - JAFF Library
That is really exciting. Congratulations, Renee!by Amy I. - Tea Room
Rae Elaine, You're using the wrong search engine. As you observed, that's for searching messages on the message board. To search the novel, you have to go the Novel Text page. (It's linked from the top of RoP's S&S board). From the top of the novel text page, you can search the text.by Amy I. - Tea Room
Not that I am aware. I think you did mention that you would be taking down Vanities & Vexation, but that you'd let us (the moderators) know when the time came for that to happen. I'm guessing that time is now? Honestly, we try and scan each message as they are posted but they're usually cursory reads at best. (There are a lot of messages that get posted each day!) Suzanne O requested that her story be removed from the archives. However, all hope is not lost as it was pulled for publication. Read Suzanne O's announcement here. As for the Vignette, sorry about that. I've fixed the link. Thanks for pointing it out!by Amy I. - Tea Room
You can edit/delete your post if (1) you are a registered user and (2) no one has replied to it yet.by Amy I. - Tea Room
I've often wanted to talk to someone about Gaskell's works, but wasn't sure whether DWG was the right place.... We're pretty open in the Tea Room so, of course, you should feel free to seek out the company of other Gaskell aficionados at DWG. :)by Amy I. - Tea Room
As a reminder, per our Contributor Guidelines, we request that all members of the community - registered and unregistered - post with a real name. Initial-only names are considered aliases. Thanks.by Amy I. - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I've wondered the same, Harvey, and whenever I have questions like these I like to visit RoP's Life and Times board and see if Julie W has written on the subject, as she is well known in that community for being a fountain of knowledge of all things Regency-related. As fortune would have it, she has previously written on travelling by post. Here is the link for that discussion:by Amy I. - Tea Room
Unfortunately not. When we moved our message boards from Austen.com in May 2010, we had to say good-bye to the old. But you should definitely feel free to provide feedback to an author here in the Tea Room. Authors never tire of reading feedback, and maybe others will then join in as they recall their favorite memories from that particular story. :)by Amy I. - Tea Room
Hello Deb, Since you raised the question as to DWG's policy towards reader feedback, I thought I would clarify that we have no policy that "discourages readers from announcing that they can no longer read a particular story," or even a policy against leaving negative feedback in general. We do require that members of the community "be respectful when interacting with others, including when replby Amy I. - Tea Room
Who wants to be the lucky one to leave me a blurb? You may email it to me or reply with one here; thanks!by Amy I. - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Hi Renee, Your point about having to scroll through long sections of text to get to comments at the end is well made. Unfortunately, I don't know that our message board format allows us to add a page jump link from the top to the bottom. For iPhone users (who are browsing with Safari) there is a very easy way to get from the bottom of a screen to the top of the screen -- you just touch the uby Amy I. - Tea Room
The font size of the customized templates are much better for the eyes than the default templates. (I can read without having to squint or enlarge parts of the page!) Thanks for all your hard work, Margaret! :Dby Amy I. - Tea Room
Forbidden Destiny, and all of Tanisha's excellent stories may be found by searching the archives with her name. Here's the link for FD:by Amy I. - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Hi Rahmi, It's been a while since I've seen the 2007 version of Persuasion, but I think you're looking for the Royal Crescent. Amyby Amy I. - Tea Room
Sorry for the delayed response, Roxey. We have no problem with you saving any stories, so long as they are for personal use.by Amy I. - Tea Room
Hello Shannon, Of course we welcome all works of creative writing at DWG! The question, however, is where does it belong? After much thought and consideration, we think the best place for stories based on "Lizzie Bennet Diaries" is A Novel Idea. Although any story stemming from LBD necessarily has its roots in Jane Austen, such stories are not directly based on Jane Austen and ANI is the apprby Amy I. - Tea Room
This thread is for reflection upon the work that Nerin is sharing. If we're to start discussing what we'd like to see in an MP story, generally, that'd probably be best discussed in the Tea Room. Thanks! :)by Amy I. - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Sorry for the delayed response. As Suzanne O noted, sometimes it's helpful to email instead. :) Amyby Amy I. - Tea Room
Suzanne O posted a few months back that she would be pulling the story from the archives and provided readers with an opportunity to save a copy. For those who missed out on that opportunity, Suzanne recently shared good news in November.by Amy I. - Tea Room
That was a Facebook group created by members of the community a while back when they wanted to connect with each other via FB. We have now created an official page (not group) for the community. By clicking on the links provided in my post, you should reach the correct page! Thanks for pointing that out and allowing us to clarify. :)by Amy I. - Tea Room
