Perhaps Kitty should look more closely at the book to see if Lord A has left her a message therein. After all, what exactly was it that Mary stopped to look at when she was leafing through the book?by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I think we need to find out whether any of the militiamen at the door are injured--since Wickham is in the militia, no? I can't remember if Elizabeth knows what he looks like in human form.by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I really enjoyed this imaginative mashup. The semi-Gothic vibe was great fun. I agree with Baratani that the ending leaves a lot of room for a Batgirl followup, which would be even more fun! And of course it completely makes sense for the intrepid Lizzy to take on that role. Thanks, and looking forward to the follow-up, whenever it comes.by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Have no fear, Janice. Darcy and Bingley definitely don't always drink this much. I'm not even so sure about the Colonel, although it is clearly his intention to get them drunk in this part. Hurst, well...we'll just have to wait and see. But Darcy and Bingley are definitely making some very poor choices with alcohol here and in Part I because they are in great distress. Of course Bingley is kindby Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
So much fun indeed--quite a romp, and one that I'll enjoy reading again! Thank you for sharing it with us!by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Right, very interesting to think about whether the King of Cats is a canon character or not. The only thing that might seem to make sense right at the top for a villain is a gender-swapped Lady Catherine, maybe, although of course canon Wickham is not in thrall to her and probably doesn't even know her. Who could Wickham be in thrall to? Aha! Maybe Mrs. Younge! And if Georgiana is Catwoman, couldby Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Holy stomping around in the middle of the night, Batman! Robin seems so nice that he must be Bingley. Or maybe you're going to surprise us all by having Hurst be Robin? His indolence and gluttony all just part of the facade he has constructed to hide his derring-do?? On the other hand, I think I might have read Mari A's A Matter of Secrecy a few too many times and now I unconsciously always thinkby Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Hmm, so if it is Georgiana, has there been a Ramsgate? So far, at least, she seems to have a lot of "agency" in stealing around at night rather than waiting to have the pieces picked up by her brother...interesting-er and interesting-er.by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Yes, I agree it is very cute, and I had some related questions. Even if he is a guy, he could decades older, married...or Bill Collins! Yikes! In Lizzy's shoes, I'd be very, very cautious. I'm sure you'll address this in the next post, as you say.by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Hmm, I notice that "The Bingley family was all awake" when Elizabeth arrived, but there is no mention of Darcy. Come to think of it, there's no mention of Charles Bingley, either, just Caroline and Louisa. What could it possibly mean???? Is there an Alfred the butler, I wonder?by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Ha! I had been wondering whether there was potential for a P&P/Scarlet Pimpernel crossover, but would never have thought of a Batman crossover. Darcy as Batman and Bingley as Robin is the obvious choice, but I wonder whether we have a surprise in store?by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Yes, indeed. That was lovely, the breathless feeling of falling, or sliding, or slipping into love in the garden scene. I like that so much was accomplished in this story without melodrama, and that personal growth and transformation continues to occur in both of them both while they are courting and after their marriage.by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Yes, I agree that it was very nice how Darcy revealed his involvement on his own. It's quite interesting to see how Darcy is still struggling with his and Elizabeth's differential in class/status at this point in the story since he wasn't forced to think that through earlier. It puts us right in the middle of his "off-screen" struggles in canon between Rosings and Pemberley, emotionally. So whby Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Thanks so much for your lovely comments, everyone! Jan and I are very glad that you enjoyed our silly little bit of fluff. Lucie, you are right, maybe they should get more than 10 years of bliss before the end...Twenty or twenty-five, perhaps? Thanks again.by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
We're really glad you enjoyed it. As to this Lady Catherine being your headcanon now, perhaps she can wrestle with the swashbuckling gay spy Mr. Hurst from your A Matter of Secrecy, since he has taken up permanent residence in my headcanon as well. Cheers!by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
We are so glad you are finding it fun, if a little nuts, as Linnea Eileen noted. Anne is a bit of an omnivore, as you will see in Part the Second. Thanks to everyone who commented!by Justine - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
