ah, although my favourite answer would be "coward" (as I've been calling Darcy for the past 2-3 posts), in this case, there is logic in his madness. Lady Cat is not an idiot. If Darcy was adamant that he won't marry Anne, a logical question for his aunt would be when and how he came to such a conclusion. She would easily speculate her nephew is admiring another girl, and given the fact that she sby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I haven't finished the chapter (half way there), but I don't get it at all. She repeats several times that she can't let anyone know what Wickham is. I fail to see the truth of the matter. She cannot tell anybody BUT her father. The trust between them is such that she can tell him that "she senses an animal in him due to her magic" and blah blah blah and she is afraid that if she is right, thenby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Nice chapters, both of them. Darcy really doesn't like pushing himself when it comes to saying "Sorry". Quoteit will wait until I have seen Miss Bennet for myself and judged whether or not I was wrong, though it matters little now. It was never my place to interfere as I did. So first he postpones it for "when Charles returns" then "later" then "when in Pemberley when I control the environmentby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I refuse to assign motives to Ash before he lets us know himself :) A good part of what is fun for me with this character is that he is difficult to read. Both Kitty and Mary were brilliant in this chapter. If only Elizabeth had shown half the progress that Kitty made... Not knowing your feelings is one thing, but be willfully misunderstanding is another. So Darcy is now an individual who cannotby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Which father enjoys the thought of the first (wedding) night of his daughter? In particular when said wedding was an elopement, where his authority was ignored, where he had no time to even like the groom, let alone get used to the idea that his daughter will be married? His behaviour is understandable. And funny and silly. And bravo to Elizabeth for indeed telling him to butt out :) Darcy handby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Nowhere. I inferred it from the length of the dialogueby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Ah, but the dog comment is so brilliantly touched upon in the next lines. Essentially Lizzy knows she is inaccurate and she knows she has a very accurate (and justified) feeling that she did not convey properly, but she is also incensed with his proposal and unable to maintain her cool and form logical and dispassionate arguments. Maybe cruel on her part, but I found it a necessary comment. I cby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Other than the reply this comment also has, I disagree with the notion that "he made his feelings known through Fitz". I do not dispute this, that Fitz made his feelings clear. I dispute the following: 1) So he was fully able to emote as a wolf but not as a human? Are these feelings truly ONE or are they separated? Because if he did feel in a certain way as a creature, then he should have no trby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Well, to me it was clear that Mr. Fitzwilliam made it clear to his brother that a) he is not interested and that b) Kitty is not interested in him when he was laughing at him for being outsmarted by her and for having figured out Ash's ruse. I believe that Ash tried to "guess" Kitty's interest and cater to it (for whatever reason: distorted view of "self-sacrifice in the name of true love" or siby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Well, the interpretations of all of you clarified this somewhat for me, but I am still puzzled. He now spent a quarter with her, while at the excursion he could have spent several hours getting lost in some walk or so and far away from the eyes of the rest. If Bingley and Miss Bennet have just managed to do so in this chapter, and also Darcy and Elizabeth, I do not see why Ash would not be able tby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Different title for this post? I laughed with the phrase: "If only Mr Bingley had been the only gentleman to accompany them, him and perhaps Mr Fitzwilliam. Then there would be no difficulty, Lizzy could paddle to her hearts content." She doesn't fully get it, does she? She doesn't even wonder why she would be able to be silly with these two gentlement, but not the other two...by Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Mr. Collins? In your universe, is it Charlotte, Mary, Kitty, Lydia or somebody else? And Lydia? Married sister promised her days in Derbyshire thus fully avoiding W? I always found it extremely ... uncomfortable that a girl not yet 16 would be seduced by a guy almost 30... I know, I know, in those times, Lydia got off very lightly, but I am a 21st century product, and FF can indulge me every nowby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I am so bad at this... I immediately recalled the scene, the details of where Bingley's hands were and what they were doing, Jane's proclamations, what Darcy was doing with his fiancee etc etc etc... I could describe everything around it, except for the title! Any idea when the story will go on?by Maria V - Tea Room
It's amazing how hard he thought of ... India and Bingley today :):)by Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I suppose I will eternally be amazed by the inventiveness of JAFF authors! Brilliant premise! Let's hope that the plan succeeds and that we, the audience, get a thorough description of the problems the Darcys will face in London and the way they will handle them until some other scandal takes precedence.by Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I like your characterisation. I have read way too many Darcys that are only simply prideful and so full of passion that we forget everything else. After all, the more faults he realises he has, the bigger his transformation (or at least self-awareness if not actual change) will be.by Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
For shame! The coward. Yes, he'll see her and all his passing thoughts will vanish. But he is a coward as is. First postponing his confession of his errors to an environment he can control, despite his friend's obvious pain. What a friendship. And then talking himself into India just to forget EB, despite the fact that his friend could have a chance at happiness as his Bennet sister returns his fby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
There was a ... someone some time ago, who liked me well enough for years and thought that for a long list of reasons, I was out of his reach. Thus, the idiot he was, he thought he could arrange it so that I become involved with his friend. He had forgotten it seems that it takes two to tango :) He wants the best for me, he also wants to make sure that I am truly out of reach by being unavailablby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
This is indeed what puzzles me the most. He is a freak by his society's standards - a monster that would be shot on the spot. There is no way you can hide your form from a wife, and even if love doesn't become part of that union, you would destroy her life, fortune and reputation by her mere association with you. I would have expected Darcy to firmly believe that marriage is now out of his realmby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Indeed, nice changes and still in the spirit! I like the maid better than the barmaid, and the art restoration a smart idea to cut a whole part of the plot that may not have been strictly necessary. And I like the fact that we see glimpses of the Bennets early on (and their relationship with Elizabeth).by Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
By doing it at dinner, he contained the reactions of both. They cannot storm at each other and say something they'll regret. They are forced to shut up and listen (possibly to anything useful by others), think, possibly get the edge off their embarassment / anger, and then talk. Moreover, Elizabeth is unfairly angry at her dad. He did try to talk to her and he did not purposefully withhold inforby Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
Contrary to the popular opinion, I applaude Mr Bennet. He lanced the boil immediately. The longer Elizabeth kept her secret, the worse it would be. Rather than cruel, I ee his action as painful but necessary.by Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
I had that thought, that the valet was somebody from the household, just before the chapter went into it :-) Why do they not consider unhappy servants or the previous valet? The similarity in the looks?by Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild

Swype... Tracking her!by Maria V - Derbyshire Writers' Guild
A proper visit after super was delayed due to a prolonged discussion and assistance with a slight illness. Elizabeth was returning home when panicked animals were fleeing the woods. W was wrecking her. Her mare and E panicked, fleed to the closest place around, N, where B opened the door as he had made sure that servants and family were away.
