A lovely new story!
I reread Ophelia's story to better remember characters in this one, and I have to say Mrs. Rackham became rather more horrid than she looked like in the previous one: there, she was mostly extremely silly and self-absorbed, here she is selfish to the level of cruelty. Although, some signs of evilness could be seen even in the previous one, like when Luke suspected Ophelia's mother used their money for her own clothing before her children's needs while allowing her daughter to take a teaching position.
I'm glad Ophelia stands up to her! The companion could turn out nice though.
