Nikki! You've shared my sentiments EXACTLY about that P&P Version. I HATE that LONGBOURN, they've been relegated to the level of the Martins in EMMA. Especially the flea-bitten looking dogs and pigs running around, and that unpolished MR Bennet who looked like he just rolled out of bed and crawled to his study, or even sleeps in that study. I couldn't STAND the utterly vapid, stupid Bingley with a vacant expression. JA stated that Bingley was intelligent. I once read that some of the main actors (including Bingley) in that movie, never read the book, just the screenplay. It made sense that he would potray Bingley like that. And I'm sorry, I wasn't too pleased with the Darcy either. He looked and behaved like a well-groomed hound dog who's been trained to stand still for potraits.
