Jim, I don't argue with you about Frederick's feelings at the time of the breakup. What my point is, he did have some of the responsibility (for not seeing Anne's side/the reasonableness of the concern over her welfare if he did not succeed in becoming rich) but the most important, he rightly blamed himself for the length of their separation. I thought your opinion was that his feelings of guilt for his continued resentment and for not contacting her in 1806 were unfounded -this is what I tried to argue against.
