Here are my thoughts on the events and actions of Darcy and Elizabeth.
Darcy discouraged Bingley from returning to Netherfield because he believed that Jane did not care for Bingley. Jane believes that her visiting the Bingley sisters conveys her interest. What does Darcy think about Jane's visit? Does he think she comes to meet her girlfriends or out of mercenary interest? If he does not believe the second, then does he think her dense to encourage friendship with the sisters of a man she does not love while being aware of the general expectations based on their behavior? Though, he thinks her sensible, he mentioned that in his letter to Elizabeth. Then how did he account for the cause of her visit to the Bingley sisters in London?
